Terms of Use

These terms apply to everyone who uses patahome.co.ke (“PataHome”). By using the site or creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use PataHome.

1. What PataHome is

PataHome is an online noticeboard that connects people looking for homes with owners, agents and caretakers. We are not a party to any tenancy, sale or short-stay agreement, we don't hold money for either side, and we don't own or manage the properties listed. Any deal is between you and the other person.

2. Accounts

• You must be 18 or older and give accurate details.
• Keep your password and security codes private. You're responsible for activity on your account.
• One person or business may hold more than one account only if each is used honestly and not to get around our rules.

3. Rules for listings

• List only property you own or are authorised to let or sell, and say honestly whether you're the owner, an agent or a caretaker.
• Agents must state any fee charged to tenants or buyers. Caretakers must state any fee they charge.
• Prices, photos, videos, location and details must be accurate and show the actual property.
• Keep listings current: mark them rented or sold when they are, and confirm they're still available when asked. Unconfirmed listings are paused automatically.
• Don't ask for money before a viewing, don't discriminate unlawfully, and don't post anything illegal, misleading, offensive or that infringes someone else's rights.

4. Rules for everyone

• Be honest and respectful in messages and at viewings.
• Don't scrape the site, spam owners, post fake reports, or try to break or overload PataHome.
• Only use other people's contact details to discuss the listing they relate to.

5. Verification, reports and removal

A “verified” badge means we checked the identity documents provided; it is not a guarantee about the property or the person. Visitors can report listings; listings may be paused automatically after several reports or when our checks detect likely scams. We may edit, pause or remove any listing or account that breaks these terms, and we may share information with authorities where fraud is suspected.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, videos and text you post. You give PataHome a free, non-exclusive licence to host, display, resize and share them (for example in search results and share previews) for as long as they're on the site.

7. Fees

Browsing and posting are currently free. We may introduce optional paid features such as featured listings; their price will be shown clearly before you pay. Rewards such as a free featured week for invites are promotional and may change.

8. Liability

PataHome is provided “as is”. We work hard to keep it accurate and safe, but we don't guarantee listings, users or that the site will always be available. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses arising from dealings between users, or for indirect losses. Nothing here limits rights you have under Kenyan consumer law that can't be excluded.

9. Ending your use

You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

10. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any issue; otherwise disputes go to the courts of Kenya.
